Jill Reese was raised in Carmel, Indiana and attended Carmel High School where she enjoyed participating in performing arts and studying abroad in Krefeld, Germany. Thereafter, Jill attended Indiana University in Bloomington, obtaining her B.S. Degree in Secondary Education (German) in 1991. As part of her studies, Jill spent a year studying at the Universitaet Hamburg. Jill worked for three year as a German-translating flight attendant on international routes for United Airlines before returning to law school.
